Supporting the wellbeing of you and your family

Welcome to my website, thank you for visiting!

I’m Cathy Tansley, a chiropractor with over 10 years’ experience helping people of all backgrounds and ages regain their health, from those in their 90’s to newborns just a few hours old.

I studied Biochemistry and Physiology at Cardiff University before studying the Master of Chiropractic qualification at the Anglo-European College of Chiropractic in Bournemouth. I started my career working in practices in Cumbria and Newcastle upon Tyne that have a vitalistic approach to restoring and maintaining health.

My approach is distinctive in that I have undertaken additional training to better understand what creates health and vitality, and as a result I have found that I can better serve my clients through a chiropractic and lifestyle-centred approach to regaining and maintaining optimal health.

I am a published author and I have contributed a chapter to the best-selling book, Abundant Health, which was published in 2010. I have recently completed the postnatal assessment and exercise prescription course run by Jenny Burrell, one of the UK’s leading educators in women’s fitness, postnatal pelvic floor and core recovery.

Having a baby is demanding. I have successfully supported many pregnant and postnatal women over the course of my career. However, it was my personal experience of pregnancy, home birth and getting breastfeeding established and maintained that made me truly understand how vital proper support is at this potentially vulnerable time in a family’s life. This support can take various forms but certainly chiropractic care, the right lifestyle ‘ingredients’ and an appropriate postnatal recovery programme are a combination that can better assist and restore women through this time of great change and extra pressures, both physically and emotionally.

We are a family who enjoy being outdoors, spending most weekends walking in the countryside locally or further afield in the Dales or Lake District. I am a member of the Horsforth Harriers running club and practice yoga regularly. I love cooking and eating good home-cooked food and can happily relax in the evening reading a recipe book!
